2019 MINT 400

2019 Mint 400 was the 2017 Colorado ZR2’s 10th BITD race.  We raced the 2nd race on Saturday and were sporting our new graphics package.  We added  new sponsors for the race, GM Defense and AEV.  We had another great day and increased our average speed over the 2018 Mint 400.

Thanks to all our sponsors, Warn supplied us with a new pit mat and the team really appreciated not having to lay in the dirt. Thank you Warn from the whole team.   Thanks to Mobil 1 for suppling all the race lubricants and they also filmed a couple episodes of Mobil 1 the Grid. Those episodes should be airing in 3-4 weeks on CBS.  Thanks to Multimatic for suppling us with  great racing shocks.  Thanks AEV for the new Boron Steel skid plates, we broke a lot of rocks with them . During the after race inspection I was expecting a lot of damage on the skid plate since I hit a huge boulder but they didn’t even have a dent or a scratch.

Our great success is due to all the great support from Chevrolet Performance, BFGoodrich for their awesome tires, KC Lights so we can see in the dark, Tifco who provides us with all our hardware, electrical connectors and a million other things, Signpros who keeps the graphics looking great,  PCI race radios for  keeping the team in touch with each other and  Pro Eagle jacks which we have only had to use in the pits and the shop since no flats racing.

We races 230 in Trophy Truck at the Mint in preparations for the 2019 Baja 1000. We are still working on a few issues with the truck to get more speed and reliability.  We had a good race, ended up 25th.  Thank you AAM and NTN for helping us develop an awesome 4WD truck.  We also want to thank Chevrolet Performance , Mobil 1, BFGoodrich,  Tifco,  Signpros and KC lights.  Our plan is to be in the race for the win at this years Baja 1000 if Trump doesn’t close the border.  We have some work to do but I think the team can do it.

Thank you to the whole crew that preps the race trucks, supports the equipment and does all the dirty work at the race.

Next race is the Silver State 300 May 2nd-5th. You can follow us live Saturday May 4th www.racingtrax.com.

The truck ran flawless for the entire race, it was cool in the high desert. Thank goodness we have full windows and heater. Other than stopping for fuel and a co-driver change the truck never stopped.

This 2017 ZR2 finished every mile of ever race in BITD in 2018 which was our goal.

Thank you crew you make a difficult task look easy.  , Happy Retirement to Jeff Buffmeyer and hope to see you in 2019.

51st annual BAJA 1000

6130 has been updated to 230, trophy truck spec with another 100 HP and 3″ bigger tires. 30 Trucks started in the class we started 19th.  The truck ran flawless, we made it up to 5th place and then at race mile 690 the right front knuckle broke.  We replaced the knuckle and ended up 9th in class. All in all a great race in a fully locked 4WD truck.  There were no issues other than the knuckle failure and the suspension being to soft.  We will be on the Podium at the 52nd Baja 1000.

For fun we will be racing this truck as 130 in Trick Truck at the 2019 Mint 400 along with the ZR2.

Special thanks to Sean Berryman for filling in for driving duties at the  last minute for Frank Deangelo.  Sean had never been to Baja before his Pre-Run and only had about 30 minutes behind the wheel of the 230 TT before his stint.   Great job Sean and thank you to all the Crew.

Hall Racing Completes America’s Longest Off-Road Race in a Colorado ZR2

Colorado ZR2 raises the bar for stock vehicles in Vegas to Reno race

2017-08-21

Despite cutting a few tires along the course and the expected rock damage, the ZR2 held up well under the punishing conditions of this 539-mile race. Only 204 of the 336 vehicles entered in the race completed the challenging course.

“This truck is a lot tougher than I thought it was going to be,” said Chad Hall. “I clobbered some things on the course that would’ve broken the many of the vehicles we competed with in the past.”

ZR2 had onboard co-riders and navigators Austin Hall of Reno, Nevada and Chris Woo of Truckee, California.

The pit crew included Chevy performance and chassis engineers, Chevy Racing project manager, General Motors’ technicians and Hall Racing team members.

The truck was modified prior to the race with racing body-mandated safety items such as a roll cage, a 44-gallon racing fuel tank and racing seats with safety harnesses. KC HiLites racing lights, two-way radios and a GPS system were also added.

In addition to these features, the truck was equipped the Chevrolet Performance Exhaust system currently available for all Colorado models and performance parts currently under development by Chevrolet Performance engineering. More information on these parts will be announced in the near future.

“First and foremost, this was a development trip for our engineering team,” said Mark Dickens, Executive Director of Global Accessories, Performance Variants, Parts & Motorsports, General Motors, who was part of the chase and support team following the race from start to finish at all fourteen pit stops.

“ZR2’s performance went beyond our most optimistic expectations, completing ‘Vegas to Reno’ in its first outing. We learned a lot of things about the truck and could not be happier with the result, as well as the efforts of the Hall Racing team.”

“The fact that the Colorado ZR2 was the only stock midsize truck to compete in ‘Vegas to Reno’ reinforces our claim to be in a segment of one with this vehicle. Our success in this race is a testament to all that we’ve accomplished since the relaunch of our midsize truck program three years ago,” said Dickens. “We cannot wait to pass along the benefits of what we’ve learned here under extreme use and at future races to our customers.”

The Hall Racing Colorado ZR2 will challenge the next in the Best in the Desert VT Construction “Tonopah 250” race presented by Polaris on October 19-22.

The 2018 Colorado ZR2 is effectively a segment of one, combining the nimbleness and maneuverability of a midsize pickup with a host of new off-road features and the most off-road technology of any vehicle in its segment.

Compared to a standard Colorado, the ZR2 features front and rear tracks that have been widened by 3.5 inches and a suspension lifted by two inches. Functional rockers have been added for better performance over rocks and obstacles, and the front and rear bumpers have been modified for better off-road clearance.

Class-exclusive features include standard front and rear electronic locking differentials, available diesel engine and the first off-road application of Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSVTM) damper technology.

As with all Chevrolet trucks, the Colorado ZR2 is built with durability in mind, including a fully boxed frame, roll-formed high-strength steel bed and Duralife brake rotors.

Hall Racing traces its roots back to the 1950s,  with legendary off-road racer Rod Hall, when organized off-road competition was just beginning.  Today, Chad Hall continues the legacy with a newly redesigned 6100 class truck.

The original Hall 6130
